DescriptionA multi-service, inner-city community health centre * provides a range of prevention, treatment, support and primary care services including: needle exchange, methadone treatment, counselling, primary and psychiatric care, treatment for hepatitis C, peer support and outreach * satellite office of North Kingston Community Health Centre * mandate is to reduce the burden of illness resulting from the use of and dependence on drugs
Supplementary DescriptionStreet Health Centre (SHC) is an inner-city health partnership providing care, prevention and treatment services to hard-to-reach and high-risk priority populations. 
 
Needle exchange -- Individuals using injection drugs can access clean, free, sterile equipment at SHC (and through outreach services) everyday, all year long. 
 
Methadone maintenance clinic (MMT) -- for opioid dependent individuals. Methadone is a form of oral substitution treatment which provides a safe, legal maintenance routine which when combined with counselling and other medical care, dramatically improves the health status and quality of life of the individual. 
 
Primary care is provided at Street Health by a team of registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians. Individuals who do not have a family physician can access primary care services (health assessments, treatment for acute health problems and routine care management) on both an appointment and walk-in basis.
